No school October 23 and 24 for Autumn Break!

Get ready for a spooktacular evening of family fun at our upcoming Weiss Trunk or Treat event! Mark your calendars for October 20th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and join us in the Weiss Elementary parking lot for a memorable Halloween celebration hosted by the Weiss Elementary PTO.
We're rolling out the Monster Mash Trunk or Treat with an array of exciting activities. Enjoy delectable treats from our concession stand, try your hand at thrilling games, and dance the night away at our Halloween-themed dance party. But the real highlight is the trunk decorating and candy-giving extravaganza, where our families get into the Halloween spirit by transforming their vehicles into spooky spectacles and handing out candies.
Last year, we had 24 creatively decked-out trunks, and this year, we want you to be a part of the magic! Consider joining us for a spooky good time. We're also looking for volunteers to donate just half an hour of their time to ensure our students have an unforgettable Halloween event.
To secure your vehicle space, please pre-register your family, and if you can, contribute to the event by bringing candy donations to the school. You can sign up to have a decorated trunk or volunteer for the event by visiting this link: Event Sign-up. Let's make this Halloween a howling success at Weiss Elementary!

Wednesday is Unity Day! Wear your Orange!
Unity Day is an annual event occurring during National Bullying Prevention Month that promotes joining together to create healthier communities through kindness, acceptance of difference, and inclusion.
Why unity? For years, bullying was justified with expressions such as, “Bullying is a natural part of childhood,” “Bullying makes kids tougher,” or “Bullying is a rite of passage.” The goal of Unity Day is to bring together youth, parents, educators, businesses, and community members across the nation to emphasize the message that bullying is not acceptable, and that all students deserve to be safe in school, online, and in the community
Why the color orange? Unity Day is celebrated in October, and orange is a color commonly identified with the month and the autumn season. It is also a color that is associated with safety and visibility. It is a color described as warm and inviting, and its vibrancy makes an impactful statement.
Why just a day? The event provides a catalyst for everyone to come together with a visual statement that our actions matter not only on one day, but every day.

It's that time of year again for the Schools for Clean Water Contest! We are asking you to pledge to "adopt" storm drains near your home and out in your communities. By taking this pledge you promise to keep an eye on your storm drains and clear them of debris and trash when you can (this has nothing to do with your money and only takes 1 minute to pledge). Not only will you be helping keep our waterways clean, but you can also help our school. The top schools will win prize money to pay for educational projects and classroom materials! A couple of years ago, Weiss scored enough pledges for second place receiving $1,250. Let's go for first place this year for the top prize of $1,500! Simply click on the link below and make your pledge for Frank E. Weiss Elementary School. We'd also appreciate it if you share it with your friends and family! Participants do not have to live in the Weiss community to sign up for Weiss! https://allianceofdownriverwatersheds.com/schools-for-clean-water-contest/
